Who We Are..
We are a group of volunteers serving the community in Fremont, Union City, and Newark. We have been preparing income taxes for low-income individuals and families since 2002.
For households with annual income under $54,000, all tax services are free on both Federal and State returns. VITA - Volunteer Income Tax Assistance - is an IRS run program in coordination with local cities and non-profits.
What We Do...
Our services operate from January to April every year in the Fremont, Union City, and Newark areas. VITA, which stands for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, is a program created by the IRS to provide an option for low income households to file their taxes and realize potential Earned Income Credits.
Since 2002, we have served over 19,000 families and returned over $29 million dollars in refunds back to the community. In addition, our site in Fremont is the largest VITA site in Alameda County. Our IRS-certified tax preparers provide free tax assistance for tax filers who cannot afford professional tax help.
We are happy to answer any questions about our tax services.
Volunteer recruitment usually takes place in October and November, and training in early December.
Lastly, please contact us first if you would like to make an appointment. These are needed if you have a special scenario or complex tax issue.
